It is with great sadness that I must report the death of one of the Association's longest serving members Mr Emrys Stoneham.
Emrys who was 72 and resided in Elm Rise, Bryncethin joined the Association at 8 years of age and spent a lifetime fishing the Association's waters.
He was an active member who sat on the Committee for many years and attended and supported Association events, most recently assisting his grandson at the junior competition. Emrys' passion for fishing on the Ogmore has been passed on to his grandson Ethan who he taught to fish in the past couple of years. Emrys' brother Gerywn is also a valued member of the Association.
During the eight years I have spent as the Association's Secretary I got to know Emrys well and cannot recall anybody whose passion and loyalty for the Association surpassed his. He always brought a smile to my face when showing his displeasure, in no uncertain terms about organisations and individuals that adversely affected the Association and river!
The Association could not have wished for such a loyal member as Emrys and I am sure that the membership as a whole joins me in sending its deepest condolences to Emrys' family.

Emrys was the nicest older member I have met on river, passionate, experienced, supportive, helpful and always positive, he was a good man. Even with his health and lack of mobility he managed to donate to the brood stocking a beautiful Sewin caught below llynfi junction 2 years ago, contributing to future of his beloved ogmore. He will be sadly missed.
