I have been an OAA member for some years now and never have I seen such a large salmon as the one beached on a shingle bank in the middle of the river mouth. Needless to say dead! I retrieved the fish to the south bank where it was measured, weighed and photographed by myself and Mr Garnet Edwards (local mullet-magnet). Weight - 9.25kg (20+lb) length - 36ins As much as it is sad to see such a fine fish in a lifeless state, I am sure that, sentiment aside, we can take this as a good indication of the quality conditions that the Ogmore offers, for as we know, a spent fish is often a good sign of successful spawning. A fish of this size clearly has been successfully spawning in the Ogmore for many years.
