Since the AGM I have taken over as River Clean Up Co-ordinator. During this time we have had only one non comitee member attend. The issue of cleanups has become quite a negative issue and I would like to turn it back into what it should be - a very possitive one. This river is very special and it needs and deserves to be looked after.
I have to say that those that have attended have completed some fantastic work and the commitment shown by those who have attended has been tremendous.
River cleanups are a fantasic way to meet people, learn the river, help to improve the fishing for everyone, to learn from each othe and to have a really good laugh. I am a family man and completely understand how hard it is to commit to something like this on a weekend, but we can use the clean ups as a way of altering the negative feelings that some members and commitee have and improve the general atmosphere of the club. Even if you can only attend once it will benifit us all.
I will be posting a report about each clean up with pictures to keep people updated and I would encourage members to use this thread as way of suggesting areas of the river that they think need our attention.
I appologise for having to cancel this months clean up (As I said I fully understand the committments of family life) but look forward to working with members and Committee members to benifit our river and our fishing. Diolch yn fawr Tight lines

Mark,
Please can you clarify clean up meeting times?
It states 10.00am at the Rec on the permit.
I got to the Rec at 9.50am on Sunday, drove around for a while and could not see anyone.
Cheers, Chris

I would like to thank all the members who attended todays clean up.
We had a better turn today and therfore we were able to achieve a lot more. We covered a really good of water today which produced 3 piles of rubbish including; trollies, road signs, a couple of tents, a large bulders bag and much more. I will add the pictures when I get them. As usual a brilliant laugh boys, nice one.

Just a quick note to say that there's a litter pick/clean-up happening this Sunday at 11:30a.m. down at the Swing Bridge. A few of the local residents have contacted me to see if they can clean this lower stretch. It would be great if the club was represented too. Give me a shout if you need any more info.

As some of you may have noticed recently, there seems to be a significant number of tyres strewn along the riverbanks at the moment. Following a lengthy walk with Andrew and two officer from the E.A.W last week, we have discovered just how far up these are being found. On the 19th and 20th of March we're hoping to remove as many of these tyres as possible. the EAW have informed me that they will cover the disposal cost of the tyres, so they won't just be left lying around to be thrown back in. But we need some help to cover such a large stretch of river in two days. There are tyres from Ogmore Vale right through to Newbridge Fields (and that's only the ones that I've seen). If anyone is available on either of these dates, please come and give us a hand to shift them from the river. I've got support from EAW, BCBC, and a few local residents in Ogmore Vale, but that's not going to be enough to hit the lower stretches as well. If you are available, please let me know so that I can start putting together a plan of action. Thanks.

As soon as my shift finishes i will be out to give you a hand. I have removed alot of the Tyre's for collection but we are still going to need a lot of members to finish the job, lets hope they turn up in great numbers. ?? See You Sunday for the club clean up down the lower end at 10am.
