Myself & my son had a good time! and was nice meeting lots of other members, although upon turning up i was a bit miffed when asked if my son was worming? as in the Bylaws it states " between Water Street Bridge, Bridgend
and the hump-back bridge (near the tennis courts) Merthyr Mawr, is reserved for fly fishing until the 16 June. ......... Nothing was mentioned about worming in the event notice on the club website? obviously i have became a member again after many years off the river (19yrs) and things have changed a lot, also im not aware what normally happens at the junior comps having never attended one, .. Am i right in maybe thinking there is an exception made for the comp? or am i wrong and you can worm at the dipping bridge? i felt a bit P*ssed off with myself that i didnt bring any gear other than fly for my son and most were catching around him on the worm but that aside he loved it and he didnt know any different. Also i would like to thank Geraint for giving my son a casting lesson and correcting the bad ways i had shown him and he had copied from me Geraint also gave me a quick brush up on casting and a couple of technique's. And big thanks to the other member (who i've met twice and didnt ask name?) who gave me and my son a lift down to the swinging bridge and saved us from a long sweaty walk . All in all a great day landing 3 nice little fiesty wild browns on the lower stretches and meeting another bailiff with a sheep-dog (and i mean a sheep that thinks its a dog .
Tight Lines Danny.
P.S Looking forward to seeing the group photos and any other pics taken on the day(will they be posted on the forum or on the website?

Hi Danny, it is an exception for the junior compotition and I did offer you a worming outfit for your son to use. I'm not in control of the website but I'm still trying to get the pictures posted and they will be up asap I can assure you. It will be same next year with more prizes up for grabs. Tight lines.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the reply yes i shoud have mentioned that upon turning up you offered me full kit and even to let him have a little go with a spinner Top Bloke and another member also let my son borrow his casting strap to try out so big thanks to him also i Was just a bit angry with myself for not finding out more about the competition and all that goes on so thats my fault i left it till last minute and wasnt even sure i'd be turning up as had lots of other stuff all happening the same time , but so glad we made it there and was great meeting all that was there. and look forward to next years competition We couldn't make it to the clean up today ... but will definately be at the Wildmill meet up on sunday 5th july especially that stretch being part of my stomping ground i've seen plenty of crap to drag out of there, and have done bits and pieces while out fishing (within limits as i mostly have son with me and obviously dont want to be doing anything dangerous in front of him trying to drag heavy snagged stuff out etc) ... so we are looking forward to that as he has a thing about looking after the earth and has been doing care in the environment in school etc ,since taking him out on the river he's amazed at the crap people throw and dump in these beautiful locations, sadly it seems people have got worse over the years. Cheers Danny
