DUE TO POOR STOCKING LEVELS THIS YEAR AND POOR FISHING DUE TO LOW WATER LEVELS WHICH I REALISE IS UNCONTROBLE DO MEMBERS THINK THE RIVER OGMORE IS GETTING OVER PRICED COMPERED TO OTHER RIVERS IN THE SOUTH WALES AREA ALSO I AM OF THE OPINION THAT IT SHOLD BE STATED ON LICENCES IF THE RIVER EWENNY IS TO BE STOCKED EACH YEAR THERE ARE GOOD FISH IN THE EWENNY STILL BUT THE HEAD OF FISH SHOULD BE MAINTANED OR IT WILL END LIKE THE OGMORE .

If you were able to turn up 3 times a year as you agreed when you joined the club for the monthly river clean up your membership fee would be reduced to give you better value for money. Also there is nothing wrong with the Trout stocking levels in the Ogmore I have caught 40 fish this year, best 4lb from 10 day visits and caught nothing night fishing for Sewin. For me this makes membership as cheap as chips, or less than 2 month Sky subscription, or less than a shop in Tesco's, or 2 tanks of petrol, still with the best months to come. Golden Grove beat is £170 per day, the anglers are catching nothing, now that is expensive.

1) According to official catch returns we probably have one of the highest density of sewin for the size of the system in wales.
2) There has been one price increase in the past 5 years.
3) £80 equates to 3 or 4 visits to a still water.
4) Subscriptions are pretty much similar to other associations with similar lengths of water.
5) The Ewenny has been stocked this year as it always is
6) I do not see the rationale behind putting stocking details on a permit? A permit is simply a card which allows you to fish.
7) End up like the Ogmore? In what respect? It would be cruelty to load the Ogmore full of fish when it is scientifically proven that most will die over the winter.

One of the things with wild fishing is you learn to take the rough with the smooth. Sure conditions have been very poor so far this year, but hey it goes with the territory. We agree to this when we pay for our membership. Surely as an angler you are not suggesting we pay on the basis of how many lbs of stocked trout we can catch a year . If you want stocking densities to be similar to those of stocked smallwaters then I politely suggest that you are better off concentrating on these fisheries. Wild fishing is simply incompatable with such stocking practices. If you looked further than the stocked trout you would realise what fantastic Sewin fishing the river can offer in particular. Admittedly prospects have been poor this season so far, but it's the same everywhere. I'm a very average rod, but have fished quite a few seasons down at Golden Grove on the Tywi over the last ten years. My biggest two Sewin still come from the Ewenny and Ogmore respectively. It's my opinion that the Ogmore / Ewenny offer unbelievable value for money, if you take a long term view. If anyone else can tell me where better fishing for this sort of money can be found in this area, please say so! Phil

Is martin fishing the same river as everyone else? I think anglers of that opinion dont spend enough time on the river,if they did they would realise there are still a lot of wild and stocked trout on the lower stretches. Also the past week or two there are a lot of bigger fish about. You have got to be in it to win it!To much time on the computer not enough time on the river.

The annual fee for OAA is in my opinion one of the best value for money for game fishing anywhere in the UK.
Given the number of sewin and salmon myself and my dad have caught over the last few years (and brown trout), you will struggle to find better value for money anywhere.
