Several members have contacted me recently due to discolouration of the river.
There are currently no works taking place on the system.
It would appear that the current warm weather conditions coupled with extremely low water flows for a pronounced duration has caused algae and siltation to bulid up on the river bed. The rain experienced last week did not cause significant enough flows to flush the system.
Unfortunately this is a natural phonomenon, so we can only hope for significant rain and flows as soon as possible.

You've got that spot on OAA1. Much the same on a number of other Welsh rivers.
Not been down to the river for a week and would be interested to know what the current visability of the water is?
One issue which i think is important in these very low flows is returning fish. If you want to return a Salmon or Sewin it is vital that it is played out really quickly, not removed from the water and that any minimal handling is done with wet hands. I know of a number of Sewin that have been found dead on other rivers and the likely suspicion is that these have been c+r fish which subsequently died. Obviously with high water temperatues and low water leading to a lack of oxygen in the water it is harder for fish to recover. In no way wanting to lecture or be a c+r zealot - I like nothing better than taking a few fish for the table each year. I just think it is a shame if fish are 'wasted' due to perhaps some anglers not being aware of how much strain the current conditions put on the fish.
Please rain!
Phil

Well said Phil.
A club member mentioned to me that he was fishing the Og the other day and the river was of a clear clarity, but then at about 10:30 pm the river coloured up.
Is it possible that somebody is discharging late in the evening ? when there are fewer people around to take notice.
