I love worming especially when it is the only method that works when the fish are down and it is too cold to go fishing but we do anyway! Caught my first Salmon on the Teifi in 1987 on worm, caught my first Sewin on worm, caught my first Brown Trout on worm. More power to the wormers!

the way i understood the rules is that you are allowed to worm down to the railway bridge in Wildmill, and then below the swing bridge in Merthyr Mawr until the 16th of July. If this has changed can we please have an official acknowledgement of this which may also clarify the latest position on the rights below the swing bridge

Byelaws are sent to members when they renew each year. Any changes to byelaws are also communicated in the pre season newsletter.
Regarding fishing rights issues below the swing bridge these are discussed at meetings and will not be discussed on the forum. Alternatively as I have previously stated council members will be happy to discuss this on the telephone.

On the subject of worming, last season I noticed a few members trotting the worm with a small float. Is the use of a float permissable on club waters? No issue with people doing this myself, but was curious as I cannot seem to find anthing in the rules booklet to clarify this.
Thanks. Phil

Yes it is acceptable with the EA and under club rules re our rule sheet waddington. I was unsure of this myself at one time but if this is not the case maybe a council member could put us right!-goldhead

You are allowed to float fish or ledger or trot worms in the permitted worm fishing areas as per club rules, upstream of Rhiw Car Park Bridge/ council offices/ £3m wacky walkway in Bridgend town centre. In fact it is far better to hook a fish on the float as they are easily released and tend not to swallow the hook.

THANK YOU MARK. THEY AS YOU SAY HOOK MORE CLEANLY BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE ON THE BALL AND STRIKE QUICKLY SO TO SPEAK AND IF LEFT WILL STILL TAKE THE HOOK AND WORM DOWN BUT LETS NOT OPEN THIS IF YOU PARDON THE PUN "CAN OF WORMS"

Thanks for the replies to my query guys. I know that use of a float was banned on the west wales rivers (Teifi, Tywi etc) and just assumed it was on the Ogmore too. Must be a different byelaw for the area. As I said, I had no personal issue with the method, and if some members enjoy using the float it's fine by me! More than enough people telling others what do in this world already imo!

You can go float fishing with with worm wherever you want provided that this is not on the fly only waters.
Full details are contained on your byelaws.
